Even as Meta Platforms faced sweeping lawsuits from state attorneys general accusing the company of harming children, Instagram's top executive urged employees to keep one priority above all else: recruiting more teenagers. In a Nov. 6, 2023 internal memo, Instagram chief Adam Mosseri told staff to stay "laser focused" on teens, particularly in developed markets, placing that goal above work on Threads, Meta's text-based app launched earlier that year.
AI chatbots haven't come close to replacing teens' social media habits, but they are playing a significant role in their online habits. Nearly one-third of US teens report using AI chatbots daily or more, according to a new report from Pew Research. The report is the first from Pew to specifically examine how often teens are using AI overall, and was published alongside its latest research on teens' social media use.
"There's going to be one price trend: that is you will see higher costs for certificates at low producing times of day and seasons," said Daniel Arnesson, of the energy analytics company Veyt. Across a global portfolio, this may make it "fundamentally more expensive" to buy credits. Only a handful of companies including Google and AstraZeneca have backed the more expensive "24/7" hourly-matching and localized approach to clean energy investments that has been proposed for consultation.
