There is sincere regret in the words of Atlanta Braves manager Brian Snitker when he mentions what life in baseball has cost him. His son Troy, now a hitting coach for the Houston Astros, played baseball growing up, and Snitker recalls seeing only three innings of Troy's high school career, due to the natural scheduling conflict for someone working in Major League Baseball.

This move hasn't worked out at all. Now, aged 30, Sterling faces a season in exile at Chelsea, the 30m remaining in wages on his contract a key factor in the stalemate.

Miquel, 41, helped Leicester finish 10th in the WSL last season - their highest ever placing - with 20 points from 22 games, and 10 points clear of relegated Crystal Palace. The club confirmed Miquel's assistant Amaury Messuwe will also leave with immediate effect but are yet to announce a replacement, with Leicester opening their WSL season against Manchester United on 7 September.
