The 8,000 or so residents of the island, most of whom belong to the officially recognized Frisian minority group with its own language, are absolutely enamored of the American cocktail. But their version has a twist: The Föhr Manhattan contains equal parts whiskey, sweet vermouth and bianco vermouth-closer to a Perfect Manhattan than a classic -and it's garnished with a garish red cocktail cherry.
