1 week agoNYC, it's only going to get colder from here
Today and this weekend will be brutally cold in New York City; midweek will briefly moderate into the upper 30s-40s before temperatures plunge Saturday.
Sunday will be the warmest day of the week at a comfortable 73 degrees, with AccuWeather describing the day as "breezy and pleasant with a blend of sun and clouds." The night, however, will bring thunderstorms, pounding rain, and strong wind gusts that will carry on into the beginning of the workweek. Monday will only reach a high of 64 degrees, a nearly 10-degree drop from Sunday.
August is set to end with a run of cool days as well as low humidity that will make it feel like the start of fall. Monday will be the warmest day of the week, with highs in the mid-80s but the rest of the week will be five to 10 degrees cooler, more in line with September averages.
