I didn't talk to the team after the game. I'll talk to them in the morning. But it is more of the same. We have to find a way to get some pucks to fall in for us. We had to execute better on the chances that we do get. We had some really clean looks in really good spots, and we either missed the net or hit the goaltender in the chest. That is kind of the way it has been going.
In the best start to a season in his NHL career, Bo Horvat has been the spoon that stirs the drink for the Isles, 30+ games into the season. Among the leaders in goals across the league, Horvat's play has been significant, and now, the Isles are struggling with him sidelined due to injury. Going down in the second period nine days ago against the Anaheim Ducks, the Islanders' offensive production has seen a steady decline without their number one center.
Allen was perhaps an option at shortstop for Atlanta coming into 2025, but not the option. The highly-regarded defender provided the team insurance up the middle for the struggling Arcia and the returning-from-injury second baseman Ozzie Albies. If Atlanta had upgraded the shortstop position prior to Spring Training, it was possible Allen would have been squeezed off the roster. However, he was expected to fill an end-of-the-bench role while providing exceptional defense when on the field.

PHILADELPHIA -- Coach Nick Sirianni has been more involved in the offensive preparations this week, according to team sources, as the Eagles look to bounce back Monday night at the Los Angeles Chargers. Sirianni has been more vocal in offensive meetings and has been presenting material alongside offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo, sources said. According to one source, he has been addressing the group for longer than usual at the top of the meetings before ceding to Patullo, who continues to run them.
The Warriors used to be the greatest show on hardwood. Night after night, they were doing a genre-pushing, never-before-seen live improv set a blur of movement and mouthguard chewing and some of the most ridiculous and beautiful basketball that went beyond the realm of even your wildest imaginations. Man, were they fun. But that is not a word I would use to describe this year's Warriors. No, these Warriors are doing something laboriously, painfully joyless. What a slog.
The Washington Commanders will have some extended rest this weekend, which is precisely what they needed after six consecutive losses have dropped them to a pitiful 3-8 on the year. They are the NFL's single biggest disappointment, especially after qualifying for the NFC Championship game last year and starting 2025 with legitimate Super Bowl aspirations. A multitude of factors have contributed, but above all, it's been a historically awful case of the injury bug.
Before the season, Morton was given the tall task of following previous coordinator Ben Johnson in the role. Johnson, who took the head coaching job with the Chicago Bears in the offseason, had helped turn the Lions into one of the NFL's top offenses over his three years in charge -- helping the unit top the league in points (30.15 per game), offensive efficiency and first downs the past two seasons.
