Delroy Lindo receives his first Oscar nomination at age 73, fifty years after his screen debut, for his role in Sinners.
Despite having been seen hundreds, thousands of times together in photographs, at events and on red carpets, Dakota and Elle Fanning have never shared time on-screen. They're actresses. They're sisters. They're stars who have been nominated for elite awards and who have worked with the best performers and directors in the world.
Being a part of the conversation is all I ever really wanted. It's all still a win, even the snub talk, I love that the most. Because it's people in here that's like, 'I would love to see Teyana. I hope they keep Teyana in mind when it's time for award season, when it is time for Oscars.'
Every time I go a couple years without a home base here, I feel a little off-center. Though she's based in Los Angeles, she's almost always had a place somewhere in Manhattan - Gramercy, King Street, a grimy Chelsea loft with ex-husband Chris Robinson (a real-estate memory that delights her when I bring it up midway through our lunch).
The film tells the true story of Hind, who was killed by Israeli forces in 2024 as she and her family tried to evacuate Gaza City, blending recordings of real emergency calls with dramatic re-enactments. It draws on harrowing audio from Hind Rajab's call to the Palestine Red Crescent Society, in which rescuers tried to reassure her as she lay trapped in a bullet-ridden car with the bodies of her aunt, uncle and three cousins, who had all been killed by Israeli fire.
