At first glance, these photos are nothing out of the ordinary, considering that a total of 17 million men were called up to fight in the Nazi army between 1939 and 1945. But these photos are unusual because they show citizens of Nazi-occupied Poland wearing the military uniform of the hated enemy's army.
The recent parliamentary elections in Poland marked a significant turning point, as the national populists of the Law and Justice party were ousted from power with a record 75% voter turnout.
The Polish women were debutants. They are still at the beginning of their journey... The fact that they didn't finish last in such a difficult group, were able to score three goals and win a game, is a surprise.
