Caitlin Clark reports she's fine after an injury scare during a preseason game against the Dallas Wings.
many fans and commentators alike were quick to point out his efficiency struggles, not looking motivated enough, or perhaps nursing an injury that was hampering his play (reports came out that Barnes was dealing with " left knee tendonitis"). On nights when his star contemporaries, Brandon Ingram and RJ Barrett, were looking really solid, it just seemed like Barnes couldn't quite put it all together to look like the usual versatile and aggressive self that Raptors Nation has come to know.
As with Kuminga's entire career, the good and the negative were equally represented, and perhaps nothing displayed the duality of Jonathan Kuminga quite like a half-minute sequence in the second quarter. Kuminga was splayed out on the floor after Lakers reserve Jake LaRavia had buckled him with a hesitation move midway through the quarter. There were more than a few oohs and ahhs that reverberated from the Lakers crowd, and plenty of snickers on Sunday night. Twenty seconds later, nobody was laughing.
For a while, Dick was the first action on every play down. They were playing out of delay, and waiting for Dick to jostle loose of his player and into a handoff to kick things off. It worked out alright, as his aggression helped create some looks (and some free throws that he uncharacteristically split 2-4) but by the end of the 8 minute stretch he was dog tired.
We'll start out with Yaroslav Askarov, who clearly is going to have some ups and downs this season. For one thing, the goaltender was not at his best last night. He allowed 6 goals on 24 shots last night and some of them were not good goals. For example, the final goal by Brandon Tanev, it looked like the speed of Tanev pushed Askarov back into his net and then, the rookie wasn't ready for the move.
Hard-working game by our guys. We were in control of the game, and then we took the penalties. That is a pretty talented power play over there. It's our own fault for taking the penalties. We have to be more disciplined in those situations. We let them back in the game. Like everybody on the team, I thought the effort was really good tonight.
If the Bruins can replicate Saturday's dress rehearsal when the games start to count on Wednesday in Washington, they just might have a chance do something this season. In the final preseason game against the New York Rangers at TD Garden, the B's scored three times in the first two periods and then leaned on Jeremy Swayman (30 saves) to pick them up in the third to record the 4-1 victory.
The Florida Panthers and Tampa Bay Lightning go again tonight, this time at the newly-named Benchmark International Arena in Tampa. Florida dropped Tuesday's meeting with the Bolts by a 3-2 count at Kia Center in Orlando. MacKenzie Entwistle and Ryan McAllister scored the goals for the Cats, with the primary assist on both tallies going to Wilmer Skoog. Defensemen Marek Alscher and Jake Livingstone also collected helpers.
MIAMI GARDENS - The Miami Dolphins defeated the Jacksonville Jaguars, 14-6, in the preseason finale at Hard Rock Stadium and looked good in the process. Quarterbacks Tua Tagovailoa and Zach Wilson each led touchdown drives, the defensive front seven produced three sacks (edge rushers Chop Robinson and Derrick McLendon had one apiece and fellow edge rushers Jaelan Phillips and Bradley Chubb had a half-sack apiece), and running back Ollie Gordon II (eight carries, 43 yards) had a good night.
