The IRS' improper disclosure of thousands of immigrants' personal information to the Department of Homeland Security fulfilled early warnings that the data-sharing deal between the agencies would put taxpayer data at risk. The IRS and DHS in April 2025 agreed to share data of immigrants to help with criminal investigations, subject to privacy law limitations. But the agency in a Wednesday court filing said it inappropriately overshared some immigrants' address information with DHS' Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
The mother of Stephen Lawrence has said she feels like "a victim all over again" after she learned about the alleged hacking of her phone by the Daily Mail, a court has heard. Baroness Doreen Lawrence, who says her phone was tapped and voicemails hacked, said the alleged actions of the newspaper reminded her of the police handling of the investigation into the racist murder of her son. She told the High Court the Mail was only "pretending" to support her campaign for justice for the "credibility of supporting a black family". The peer is among several high-profile figures - including the Duke of Sussex - suing the paper's publisher, Associated Newspapers (ANL).

On Monday, Jan. 12, emails were sent from Settlement Administrator with the subject line Notice of Proposed Class Action Settlement Kaiser Privacy Breach Settlement. Copy the Class Member ID Number that's at the top of the email, then click the link for the settlement website. There you can select the Online Claim Form tab and fill out the required form. The deadline to submit it is March 12.
