Mazatlán offers an affordable, diverse travel experience for students, combining beach enjoyment with cultural exploration.
In 2020, travel was put on hold globally, leading to a drastic adjustment in content for many travel creators. The number of worldwide scheduled flights was down by 46.4% compared to the previous year.
Santa Teresa on Costa Rica's Pacific coast is a favorite among surfers and traveling professionals because of its long beaches and relaxed atmosphere. The town offers several coworking spaces and cafés with reliable internet, which makes remote work easier. The area is accessible via Tambor Airport with onward road and ferry connections to larger cities. Accommodation prices range from budget hostels to luxury villas. The local community is international, and the abundance of healthy restaurants and yoga studios contributes to a comfortable and productive stay.
"We continue to see extraordinary demand for travel and experiences," Capuano told Yahoo! Finance. "It feels like a fundamentally permanent shift that consumers are prioritizing spending on travel and experiences versus purchase of hard goods." The hotel chain expects earnings growth in 2026, with revenue driven by adding rooms to its portfolio and higher co-branded credit card fees. While U.S. business was slightly weaker in the fourth quarter due to the government shutdown, Capuano says the fundamentals remain strong.
Stretching along Mexico's Pacific Coast 200 scenic miles north of Puerto Vallarta, the Riviera Nayarit is rich with pristine golden beaches, lush forests, and sunset views over the waters of the Bahía de Banderas. Resorts brands from Auberge and Four Seasons to Rosewood have planted their flags in recent years, but what makes this region most appealing has been here all along.
Tijuana has long had a reputation for violence. Mexican officials consider it one of Baja California's biggest challenges. So there was reason to point out progress recently when Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum announced during her latest visit to the border town of nearly 2 million people that the daily average of reported homicides and other serious crimes in Baja California had fallen to the lowest levels in nine years.
The government of Baja California Sur, home to popular tourism spots like Los Cabos, announced the Embrace It fee - a mandatory tax for visitors over 12 who stay in the country for more than 24 hours - in June. And now, as of January, the price has increased from 470 Mexican pesos (about $25) to 488 pesos (about $28).
Maui's dreamy landscape turned into a nightmare on Aug. 8, 2023. What began as a brush fire, fueled by dangerous winds, quickly engulfed the historic town of Lahaina and damaged other parts of the island. The deadliest wildfire in the U.S. in more than a century claimed 102 lives, destroyed more than 2,200 structures, and caused an estimated $5.5 billion in damage.
Puerto Rico's boutique hotels are the island's best storytellers. Small, locally owned properties can shape a trip in ways chains cannot. In Old San Juan, they occupy vibrant streets where pastel-colored facades meet cobblestones, letting guests wander from museums and galleries to independent shops without ever leaving the neighborhood.
Despite decades of jokes and occasional bad publicity, cruise vacations are more popular than ever - just ask the tens of millions of Americans who take one every year and together represent more than half of all annual cruise travelers. Today's ships are massive, complex affairs backed by giant corporations and celebrity commercial sponsorships, all commanding big money. And while to the uninitiated, a ship may just seem like any other ship, experienced cruisers increasingly understand that unique offerings make all the difference.
"Mexico has a culture where family is at the heart of everything, and you really feel that in how resorts are designed and in how staff welcome family travellers," says Meagan Drillinger, founder of boutique travel planning business Good Horizon. "You can have five-star luxury and still feel like you're actually in Mexico, as opposed to other destinations where the luxury tends to feel cookie-cutter."
