Both warnings bring the threat of localised flooding and dangerous travel conditions. Met Éireann's forecast for this week is rather gloomy as the national forecaster predicts "generally unsettled conditions" with frequent and "above average" rainfall. Starting with this morning, there is persistent rain across the south and east of the country, drier in the west and north. That rain will clear northeastwards as the morning progresses, but more showers will arrive in from the west, becoming more long-lasting.
Met Éireann has said there may be further flooding in Leinster and Munster after heavy rain. Overall, this morning will start off mostly dry and cloudy, with just isolated rain and drizzle. It will turn sunnier during the day, with just isolated showers, and highest temperatures of 7 to 12C. It will stay dry in most areas tonight with long clear spells and just the occasional showers, mainly in northern areas. Temperatures will drop to lows of 0 to 4C.
Today will bring sunny spells and showers, with some heavy showers in the mix as well. The 80,000 revellers flocking to Stradbally should keep the raincoats and wellies handy. The north and west of the country will get the worst of the rain, while there will be more sunshine in the east and southeast. Highest temperatures will be between 15 and 20C.
