Set on nearly a quarter of an acre, the remodeled Spanish-style home has a Hollywood pedigree that includes prolific producer Frank Konigsberg and, before him, playwright John Wexley of "The Last Mile" fame. Berkus and Brent bought the property in 2015 for $2.36 million, records show.
Built in 1964, the house drips with Midcentury Modern style. Period chandeliers and a built-in stone planter draw the eye in the foyer, and decorative wall screens touch up the living spaces. In 3,174 square feet, there are four bedrooms, three bathrooms, a paneled dining room and an eat-in kitchen. Corner fireplaces encased in stone anchor the living and family rooms.
The Mediterranean-style mansion, set on close to an acre, is reached by way of a long driveway and surrounded by estate homes. At the heart of the home is a large record room with a 1970s-era recording studio. The oversized rooms throughout the house have high ceilings with a variety of treatments including exposed beams and arches.
Designed by Midcentury architect Richard Dorman and constructed in 1959 by Garland's husband, Fillmore Crank, the compound consists of the main house, a detached guesthouse and a detached workshop for a total of four bedrooms and 4 1/2 bathrooms in 3,660 square feet. The third of an acre includes a saline swimming pool.
Built as the Boulevard Inn in 1912, the onetime way station was transformed into a single residence in the 1930s by pioneering Seattle architect Elizabeth Ayer as her personal residence. The Richard Landry-designed main house has 12,000 square feet of living space. A glass-and-steel bridge connects it to the 8,000-square-foot guesthouse. The 6.89-acre estate includes two pavilions, a paddle tennis court, a waterfall and a swimming pool. The property includes 10 bedrooms plus a maid's room; 18 bathrooms; and a gym.
The six-bedroom home sits on a promontory overlooking Stone Canyon Reservoir, and plenty of amenities take advantage of the scenic lake views: motorized walls of glass, broad picture windows and an infinity-edge pool and spa complete with a waterfall and accent lighting.
The Tudor-inspired house with brick and half-timbering on the exterior came to market this spring for $1.888 million and was listed for $1.64 million prior to the sale. Records show Zeile bought the property three years ago for $1.405 million.
The three-story house takes advantage of its beach proximity with a rooftop deck offering ocean views. Inside, the 3,797 square feet of interior features white walls, hardwood floors and arched doorways. Interior spaces include a living room with a fireplace, formal and casual dining rooms and a center-island kitchen.
The buyers are entertainment business manager John McIlwee and Dreamworks Animation executive Bill Damaschke, who announced their intentions to preserve the 6,316-square-foot midcentury home. They purchased the furniture, including sofas and desks, and some of the artwork separately.

At the time, the co-op could only raise enough money to buy the ski area itself, and the Pratt Family retained control of some 1,100 acres next to the ski area that was included in the initial land acquisition in 1948.
It was one of the last remaining pieces of beachfront land in Waikiki that was still owned by a Hawaiian trust. Now, though, the land under the iconic Royal Hawaiian Hotel, also known as the "Pink Palace of the Pacific," has been sold. Landowner Kamehameha Schools announced earlier this month that it had sold the 10.3-acre parcel for $510 million to Daisho Co. Ltd., a Japan-based real estate company. It's the second major property sale the trust has sold this year. In September, it sold nearly 500 acres under the Four Seasons Resort Hualalai on Hawaii Island to billionaire Michael Dell for an estimated $400 million.
