The Italian snowmaking expert is responsible for perfecting several of the courses that will feature in the 2026 Milan Cortina Winter Games, and he takes his job seriously. It's the most important race of their life, Cerato said. Our duty is to give them the best, to deliver the best courses where they can perform their best after training so hard.
It's no secret that it's been a slow start to the ski season in much of Colorado. A lot of resorts still have very limited terrain supplied mainly by snowmaking (huge shoutout to the incredibly hardworking snowmaking teams) especially in the Summit County area. It's been a lot of groomer skiing with very little moguls or powder laps, if any, but it feels like that's finally starting to change.
“We are thrilled to be opening! Our mountain operations team is working hard to get and keep as much terrain open as possible, and all of our restaurants will be open to the public. We know how special the holiday season is for our guests, and we're especially focused on delivering a memorable experience for everyone who visits our mountain,”
By western New York standards, Bristol is a respectably sized ski area. Offering a vertical drop of 1,200 feet, 139 skiable acres, 100 percent snowmaking capabilities and 97 percent-night skiing, on paper, Bristol has everything a local mountain needs. What it lacks, however, is reliable weather. Over my 10-plus years of skiing Bristol, I can count the amount of true powder days on one hand and couldn't even begin to estimate the number of days I've skied in rain.
Sandia Peak is preparing to open for the 2025-26 winter season on December 12, and for the first time in several years, every lift on the mountain is expected to operate. The milestone follows two seasons of work by Mountain Capital Partners, which has steadily rebuilt the resort's infrastructure since acquiring the ski area in 2023. The mountain reported three inches of new snow on November 23 and said crews have been working daily to get terrain ready.
Taos Ski Valley is one week away from Opening Day, with fresh snowfall, cold temperatures and around-the-clock snowmaking setting the stage for the start of the 2025-26 winter season. The resort said in a press release that lifts are scheduled to begin spinning next Thursday, November 27, as the mountain enters its 70th anniversary season. Snow earlier in the week, combined with flakes falling again, has boosted early-season conditions and excitement among local skiers and visiting guests.t
"Snow lovers won't have to wait long for great conditions on the slopes this winter. Some of the best conditions are expected during the first few weeks of the season, with fresh powder, cold blasts and ideal weather to make snow and groom the trails. The heart of the season could be challenging at many mountains, with midseason thaws and long stretches with little snow," AccuWeather® Lead Long-Range Expert Paul Pastelok said.
