3 days agoMaine Is Down To Just 3 Open Ski Areas: Here's When They're Expected To Close
Maine has three ski areas still open for the season, with various events scheduled until mid-April.
Above treeline ski terrain is generally a western thing, with the tall mountains of Colorado, California, Washington, Oregon, and beyond featuring a lot of the bald terrain. The Eastern half of the United States is more focused on tree skiing and cut runs, rather than open bowls, but there is one resort east of the Mississippi that features some above treeline skiing: Sugarloaf Mountain in Maine.
Maine's ski areas often go overlooked, but the state is home to quite a lot of fantastic mountains both big and small. I'm certainly biased on the topic, but all of Maine's resorts have a lot of charm, whether big or small. Maine's largest ski resort, Sugarloaf, is getting ready to celebrate their 75th season, a big milestone at this fantastic mountain.
