The tournament kicks off on 11 June across the host countries of the United States, Canada, and Mexico. Many of the home jerseys for the nations that have qualified so far have been revealed and are already available to buy. There are some really cool, striking designs (and some less so), with more still to come.
Caruana was second to the former Russian, Mikhail Antipov, in the Saint Louis Masters, though he was unbeaten with 7/9, so this was still a good result. But then, in the American Cup, a double elimination format knockout, he lost to both Wesley So and Levon Aronian in similar fashion, winning the first classical game with White, losing the second with Black, then losing the speed tie-break 1.5-2.5.
I would say the most discomfort was like when the ball was below my feet or with chipping. Just like getting down a little bit to it. Honestly, overall, it was fine. Got a little bit tired at the end of the day, but yeah, it was actually all pretty good.
I'm just really looking forward to being in a tournament and not talking about my left calf. I've had a long journey from my ACL return, so I'm just honestly so excited, so grateful to be back here and just be playing football, enjoying training, enjoying all the things that come in, come with the team.
