The Congolese Ministry of Communications stated that the deportees will start arriving in Congo this month, although no specific date or number of deportees was provided.

The DRC will begin receiving deportees this month, described as a temporary arrangement that reflects Congo's commitment to human dignity and international solidarity.

"I could understand the language somewhat, but I was terrible about speaking it. My accent was terrible. People could not understand me," Deiaco-Smith said.

The order disproportionately affects immigrants of color. About 75% of children born to noncitizens are Latino, 12% are Asian American, 6% are white, and 5% are Black.

"The objective was to promote tourism, which is important, as tourism generates significant revenue and contributes to Thailand's GDP," Thai Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkeow said at a March 20 press briefing.
