The Rangers claimed outfielder Dairon Blanco off waivers from the Royals and moved Jordan Montgomery to the 60-day injured list to accommodate him on the 40-man roster.
Meckler, 26 in April, changes teams for the first time. The Giants drafted him in 2022 and he has been with that club until today. Generally speaking, he has a contact-based approach at the plate with limited power. He stepped to the plate 1,157 times in the minors over the past three years with just 16 home runs but his 13.1% walk rate and 16.7% strikeout rate in that span were both excellent figures.
The Los Angeles Dodgers announced the signing of Edwin Diaz on Friday, who agreed to a three-year, $69 million deal. Moreover, the team held a press conference to introduce their new star closer, who explained the reason behind his decision to sign with the team and leave his former squad, the New York Mets. Also, he explained his decision on his number: it will not be the No. 39 he wore with the Mets, but instead No. 3.
The Mets have claimed righty Cooper Criswell off waivers from the Red Sox, reports ESPN's Jorge Castillo. Boston designated him for assignment just yesterday as a corresponding move after acquiring Johan Oviedo from the Pirates. (Boston needed 40-man spots for both Oviedo and minor league lefty Tyler Samaniego.) The Mets have not yet announced the claim, but they currently have a pair of 40-man vacancies, so they won't need to make a corresponding move.
