Residents in Antioch and Pittsburg face an 8.5% rate increase for sewer services, while Bay Point residents see an 8.8% hike in their charges. This will mean an additional annual cost of $40.25 for Antioch and Pittsburg residents, and $57.35 for those in Bay Point.
"The city of Austin has been doing a fantastic job with water conservation, and we are using less water per person than we were 20 years ago ... but the concentration of the wastewater has really increased. Low-flow toilets and washing machines are all great, but that's more waste and dirt and less water that comes to our facility."
