"At around 11:30 p.m. on May 6, a ShotSpotter - a device which uses sensors to scan for sounds that resemble - detected gunshots in the area of Acushnet Avenue and Russell Street, the office of Bristol County District Attorney Thomas Quinn said in a press release."
"Police and EMS were sent to the location and found Steven Coan, 31, inside his car on Russell Street suffering from several gunshot wounds , the DA said. Coan was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced dead, Quinn's office said."
"The shooting is being investigated as a homicide by State Police and New Bedford police, the DA said."
A New Bedford man was found inside his car on Russell Street suffering from several gunshot wounds. Around 11:30 p.m. on May 6, a ShotSpotter device detected gunshots near Acushnet Avenue and Russell Street. Police and EMS responded to the area and located Steven Coan, 31, in his car. He was taken to St. Luke's Hospital in New Bedford, where he was pronounced dead. State Police and New Bedford police are investigating the shooting as a homicide.
