"That's what we expect from him. That's what I'm looking for [with] him."
"I mean, it was really tough. I think for him, obviously, five games - it feels like it's been a year, when you haven't played a lot. I've been in the same situation with Calgary. I missed a six-game stretch at some point in my career. You're just miserable. You don't have any motivation to do anything ... So I know how he felt, for sure."
Mason Lohrei was a healthy scratch for five consecutive games after defensive struggles. Nikita Zadorov empathized, recounting missing six games in Calgary and describing the misery and loss of motivation that accompanies extended benching. Boston coach Marco Sturm replaced Lohrei with Providence call-up Jonathan Aspirot and maintained the lineup through a five-game winning streak. With Charlie McAvoy absent for personal reasons, Lohrei returned on a third pairing alongside Aspirot in Toronto. Lohrei recorded two assists in his first game since Oct. 27 as the shorthanded Bruins defeated the Maple Leafs 5-3.
