"Tyheem Evans defrauded drivers and the DMV with a petty scheme to line his own pockets while making our roads less safe, said Attorney General Leticia James."
Attorney General Leticia James indicted Tyheem Evans, a Brooklyn man, for selling over 50 forged temporary license plates across New York and other states. Evans used Instagram to advertise and sell the plates, charging up to $210 each. He first got customer information through direct messages, then sent the plates as PDFs via email. Evans pleaded guilty to making and selling forged plates and was sentenced to a three-year conditional discharge and 100 hours of community service.
