Patrick Brady, a 42-year-old FDNY firefighter, suffered a cardiac arrest while on the roof of an all-hands apartment fire at 9407 Kings Hwy. in Brownsville around 9:40 p.m. on Nov. 8. Fellow firefighters removed him to safety and EMS transported him to Brookdale University Hospital Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead; cardiac arrest was cited as the official cause of death. Brady joined the FDNY on July 14, 2014, served at Engine Company 227, and transferred to Ladder 120 in 2022. Brady came from a family of firefighters; two brothers and multiple relatives serve in the department. Mayor Eric Adams and Fire Commissioner Robert Tucker expressed sympathy and called the loss immense.
