"We can sit here for 10 minutes. We can sit here for a half hour. I just want to make sure that you're safe,"
"Look where we're at. We have the best view of the city,"
Officers responded to a 911 call about a woman in distress and reached the roof of a Brooklyn high-rise. They found a sobbing woman sitting dangerously close to the edge. Body-worn footage shows an officer introducing himself and pleading with her not to jump while moving slowly toward her and asking to hold her hand. Emergency Services Unit officers arrived, set up a safety hitch, and three officers climbed to the ledge. One officer reassured her while more than 100 feet above the ground, then shimmied down and grabbed her hand. After she said she was not ready, they sat together until she cooperated and the team brought her back to safety on the roof.
