"Several lanes on Interstate 580 in Castro Valley remain closed, and BART service between two stations is halted after a car involved in a crash fell onto the BART tracks, officials said. The crash, which involved three vehicles, was first reported at 2:54 p.m. on Tuesday, Daniel Rodriguez, a spokesperson for the California Highway Patrol, told SFGATE. It happened on the westbound side of the highway and east of Castro Valley Boulevard, with at least one person suffering major injures, Rodriguez said."
"One of the vehicles involved in the crash was a tow truck, which had an unoccupied car on the back, Rodriguez said. 'Somehow, the vehicle on the rear, the tow truck, became ejected and landed on BART,' he said. Michelle Robertson, a spokesperson for BART, said in an automated message at 4:08 p.m. that preliminary reports indicate that the car was being loaded onto the tow truck before it fell onto the tracks."
