East Bay parks general manager steps down, threatening legal action against former employer
"The Board was demanding that I compromise my integrity and values. I would not do that, she said. I stand by my values and my reputation as a professional administrator for the past twenty-five years."
"Landreth shared her side of the story in a press release of her own Sunday morning, saying the board asked her to take actions that would violate the law and harm her reputation. The statement, issued by Sam Singer, a prominent public relations consultant who has been involved in several high-profile Bay Area disputes, claimed EBRPD elected directors demanded she take actions which she refused that would have violated open government and personnel laws, and harmed her professional and personal reputation."
"Formerly city administrator in Oakland and city manager in Emeryville, Landreth was hired by EBRPD in March 2021 to become the 10th permanent general manager in district history and the first woman to ever hold the position overseeing the largest regional park system in the U.S."
Sabrina Landreth stepped down as general manager of the East Bay Regional Park District and deputy Max Korten became acting general manager following a special board meeting. Her departure occurred two days after a closed-session performance evaluation that included board pushback on several of her proposals. Landreth issued a press release saying board directors demanded actions she refused because they would violate open government and personnel laws and damage her reputation. She said she is considering legal action. Landreth was hired in March 2021 as the district's 10th permanent general manager and its first woman to hold the post.
