Const. Timothy Barnhardt, a Toronto police officer, was denied bail and will remain in custody while facing 17 charges, the most among those arrested in a corruption probe. The charges include trafficking police uniforms, accepting bribes to protect illegal cannabis dispensaries, and leaking confidential information to criminals. The investigation, known as Project South, began after a conspiracy to kill a corrections officer was uncovered. Barnhardt and five other officers involved are currently suspended without pay, and none of the charges have been tested in court.
