Kilkenny fan accompanied former All Star hurler DJ Carey to court as the case was adjourned for sentencing. The fan, Thomas Butler, had given Carey €16,360 for cancer treatment that Carey claimed he desperately needed. Butler, a pensioner who lost both parents to cancer, had kept a picture of himself with his former idol and described himself as a 'true Kilkenny supporter' all his life. Butler said "things aren't looking good for him at half-time" as the case was adjourned for sentencing.
