Piastri: Norris & I have 'clean slate' in Mexico
"We've gone through it again, normally we go through every weekend, regardless of what's happened," Piastri said. "I think there is a degree of responsibility from my side in the sprint. "And we're starting this weekend with a clean slate for both of us. So, yeah. Just going out and racing, and see who can come out on top."
"Yes, the consequences on Lando's side have been removed."
Oscar Piastri accepted responsibility for contact with teammate Lando Norris on the opening lap of the U.S. Grand Prix sprint race. McLaren removed previously imposed consequences on Norris after a review of the Austin collision. Piastri and Norris will start the Mexican Grand Prix weekend on a clean slate. Both McLaren drivers retired from the Austin sprint after Piastri attempted an outside pass at Turn 1, cut back, collided with Nico Hülkenberg's Sauber and launched into Norris. Championship standings place Piastri 14 points ahead of Norris, with Max Verstappen 40 points behind Piastri and closing on both.
