"After a scoreless first two innings, the Clippers got to starter Ty Blach. A three-run homer with two outs and two on in the third took the game from a scoreless tie to a 3-0 Clippers lead. Blach gave up the long ball, but the three runs were technically unearned due to an error earlier in the frame."
"In the fifth, Columbus would add on to their lead with a two-run blast off Kenten Egbert, making it a 5-0 score. In the bottom half of the inning, the Cubs got one back on a Casey Optiz RBI single, but the Clippers scored again in the top of the sixth to re-extend the lead to five runs."
"With the score at 7-1 in the eighth, Pedro Ramirez contributed the bright spot of the afternoon, knocking a two-run homer out to right field. This one ended 9-4 in favor of Columbus after a Jonathan Long RBI double in the ninth."
"The game started out as a pitcher's duel with both teams going scoreless through five innings. Jace Beck got the start for Knoxville and tossed three scoreless innings. Nick Dean took over from there in the fourth. In the sixth, he gave up the game's first runs, though only one of them was earned. The 2-0 deficit didn't last long for the Smokies, though. In the bottom of the seventh, Carter Trice got them on the board in a big way, blasting a grand slam"
Iowa fell 9-4 to the Columbus Clippers after Columbus scored early and added runs throughout the middle innings. Ty Blach surrendered a three-run homer in the third, with part of the damage aided by an earlier error. Columbus extended the lead with a two-run homer in the fifth and scored again in the sixth. Casey Optiz drove in a run with an RBI single in the fifth, and Pedro Ramirez provided Iowa’s brightest moment with a two-run homer in the eighth. Jonathan Long added an RBI double in the ninth. Knoxville earned the only win, defeating Birmingham 7-2 after a scoreless first five innings and a pitching duel. A grand slam in the seventh turned a 2-0 deficit into a decisive lead.
