Prefix Coffee, a Kansas City-area specialty chain that grew to four cafes, announced it is shutting down all operations. The company previously closed two cafes located on or adjacent to International House of Prayer-Kansas City (IHOPKC) properties. Prefix's operating company, Jouby Bean LLC, sued IHOPKC, alleging IHOPKC's response to sexual-abuse allegations against founder Mike Bickle caused "substantial financial harm." A third-party investigation concluded Bickle engaged in sexual abuse or misconduct involving at least 17 women, including minors, often using prophetic claims and spiritual authority. IHOPKC permanently separated from Bickle in December 2023. Owners cited exhaustive efforts and chose closure as the next step.
