"Villa Familia is a tropical biophilic getaway in a gated Parsi neighborhood in Lonavala, India. The family's brief was to create a generational home nurturing togetherness, balancing intimacy with openness. The home has a dual personality, externally a modern architectural figurine punctuated with greens, while internally adorned with ancestral Parsi heirlooms. The house seeks a dialogue between landscape and built form, wherein the verandahs and balconies become pivotal transient spaces in the tropics."

Villa Familia is a 7500 ft tropical biophilic villa in Lonavala designed as a generational family home nurturing togetherness while balancing intimacy and openness. The project composes three distinct masses instead of a monolith, connected by verandahs, balconies and delicate passages that act as breathing voids bringing light, air and framed views of immediate greenery. The exterior presents a modern architectural figurine punctuated with greens; the interior houses ancestral Parsi heirlooms. The design emphasizes verandahs and balconies as pivotal transient tropical spaces and seeks dialogue between landscape and built form. Lead architects are Gauri Satam and Tejesh Patil; landscape and interiors by unTAG.
