"I look over and I see this girl, and 'Whoo!' I was attracted immediately,"
"Originally, Harry and Sally didn't get together. But then I met Michele and I thought: OK, I see how this works,"
"When you realize you want to spend the rest of your life with someone, you want the rest of your life to start right now!"
During production of When Harry Met Sally in New York City, photographer Michele Singer visited the set and caught director Rob Reiner's attention. Cinematographer Barry Sonnenfeld introduced them, they quickly fell in love, and they married months later in the same year the film was released (1989). Reiner had been single for many years and had previously been divorced. The film originally had a cynical ending in which Harry and Sally meet years later and walk off separately. After meeting Michele, Reiner replaced that ending with the hopeful New Year's Eve scene and its famous line about starting the rest of one's life immediately.
