This East Bay city is getting a big, new grocery store
"A signature design touch at Sprouts whose headquarters is in Phoenix, Arizona is making the produce display a central feature of the store layout. It's also known for focusing on organic items, as well as special diets like gluten-free, keto and non-GMO. In 2024, trade publication Progressive Grocer awarded the company the title of retailer of the year for its curation and customer experience."
"For the opening weekend, the store is holding a pop-up party outdoors with music and giveaways, a produce-tasting bar and games to guess the weight of oversized veggies. The first 200 shoppers on Friday and Saturday will also receive a goodie bag stocked with special products and samples. The pending arrival of the store has generated local buzz for at least a year."
Sprouts Farmers Market will open in downtown San Leandro this Friday at 1188 E. 14th St., operating daily from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. The store occupies the ground floor of the Centro Callan apartment complex and emphasizes produce as a central design feature. The chain focuses on organic items and caters to special diets such as gluten-free, keto and non-GMO. A weekend celebration (Nov. 14-16) will include an outdoor pop-up with music, giveaways, a produce-tasting bar, games and goodie bags for the first 200 shoppers. Sprouts is headquartered in Phoenix, Arizona, and received Progressive Grocer's 2024 retailer of the year award for curation and customer experience. The new location will compete with two nearby Safeway stores while promising expanded food access, local jobs and a focus on wellness and sustainability.
