Kohler's Smart Shower Purifies and Recirculates up to 80% of Water per Shower - Yanko Design
"The system runs in two modes. Standard Mode is exactly what it sounds like: fresh water, normal shower, nothing unusual happening. Cycle Mode is where the engineering earns its keep. Once activated, the system fills the subfloor reservoir, then begins running that water through a closed filtration loop while continuously mixing in fresh input. The result hits the showerhead at full pressure, which matters enormously because the biggest psychological hurdle any recirculating system faces is the moment the flow drops and you suddenly become very aware that something unconventional is happening beneath your feet."
For years, smart showers mainly added app or voice control to thermostatic valves without changing how water flows. Kohler’s Anthem EvoCycle reframes smart bathroom value around water recycling rather than automation convenience. The recirculation loop is installed 4.5 inches below the shower base in a receptor sump with a pump, ozone sanitation, and a closed filtration loop. Shower water is processed and returned to the showerhead while mixing in 0.5 gallons of fresh water per cycle. The system operates in Standard Mode for normal fresh-water showers and Cycle Mode for recirculation. Cycle Mode fills the subfloor reservoir, runs filtration continuously, and maintains full flow pressure to preserve a familiar shower feel.
