Nominees for the 2026 Professional Academic Advising Community annual awards were recognized at a May 7 ceremony, with about a quarter of the room standing. Cornell professional advisers put forward 21 colleagues for excellence in helping students navigate challenges, work toward goals, and build self-efficacy. Alex Pizzola won the Individual Impact Award for transformative support during students’ academic journeys. Maegan Puzas Kessen won the Leadership and Community Impact Award for engaging beyond her immediate role and enhancing the student experience. Approximately 80 peers attended as the awards were accepted at a presentation in Clark Hall during the annual PAAC conference. The nominations included stories of students supported through tough times and colleagues mentoring peers, and the work was described as complex and meaningful.
