"forced his way into the doorway, grabbed [Barnett] by her waist, fondled her breast and buttocks and proceeded to kiss her neck,"
"I'm going to eat your p***y."
"As a Black and Latina trans woman, I live with an added awareness of how quickly situations can become dangerous when someone's identity is discovered without warning,"
"At that moment, I feared for my physical safety."
A Nebraska resident, Kimberly Barnett, stayed at the Hilton Dallas Lincoln Centre from June 20 to 24 while attending Pride events. Around 3:45 a.m. on June 24, a hotel employee identified as Jeremy Morton approached Barnett in the lobby, offered to take her car keys to valet, and later appeared at her 20th-floor room around 4:15 a.m. Morton allegedly forced his way partially into the room, grabbed Barnett, fondled her and kissed her neck, and made a sexual threat. Barnett pushed Morton out, locked the door, and later filed a lawsuit against Hilton on December 9 alleging assault and related harms. Barnett stated that her status as a Black and Latina trans woman intensified her fear for physical safety during the incident.
