"Shirah's attorney had argued that the crash was not intentional. Prosecutors, however, said Shirah had left the scene and had time to reflect before returning and striking Taylor, MLive.com reported."
"In April, Shirah pleaded no contest to second-degree murder and other offenses. He will be eligible for parole after 30 years. Shirah's wife will be sentenced later in May for being an accessory."
A 24-year-old man in Michigan was sentenced to at least 30 years in prison for second-degree murder and related offenses. He drove his vehicle into his best friend in Flint after an alcohol-fueled argument on Aug. 30, 2024. Earlier that day, he had married and the celebration moved to a house. Prosecutors said he left the scene, had time to reflect, and then returned to strike the victim. The judge said he was a killer. The defendant pleaded no contest and will be eligible for parole after 30 years. His wife faces sentencing later for being an accessory.
