First Look Inside Baz Luhrmann's Dreamlike Belmond Train Carriage
"Celia is in many ways the closest anyone can get to chartering their own train. As such, this is one of the most exciting additions to The British Pullman in a generation."
"Stepping inside the carriage is like being transported into another world. Guests are invited to become part of the story. Celia, at its heart, is a magical mystery tour - a traveling dining experience for friends or an intimate celebration, filled with food, music, wine, laughter, and performance."
"The design concept is built around Luhrmann's fictional muse, Celia - an imagined 1930s West End leading lady gifted her own Pullman carriage following an era-defining performance as Titania, Queen of the Fairies, in A Midsummer Night's Dream."
The British Pullman, a luxury Belmond train operating from London's Victoria Station, has unveiled Celia, its first new carriage in a generation. This private dining and events space marks the inaugural collaboration between Belmond and filmmaker Baz Luhrmann, who reimagined an original 1932 Pullman carriage with Oscar-winning costume and production designer Catherine Martin. Celia accommodates up to 12 guests and features a cocktail bar, lounge, dining, and entertainment areas. The design draws inspiration from Luhrmann's fictional 1930s West End actress muse, incorporating theatrical elements, Art Deco aesthetics, tri-color marquetry panels depicting pastoral scenes, and floral motifs. The carriage transforms the train experience into an immersive storytelling journey combining fine dining, music, wine, and performance.
