'Great British Menu' winner Nikita Pathakji is opening her first ever restaurant in south London
"My food is made for sharing around a dining table. My cooking uses the classical techniques I've learned from working in Michelin starred kitchens, but the flavours reflect the food we love to eat; bold, expressive, and shaped by the cultures and cuisines from the diasporas of London."
"Food at Maai will be based around seasonal produce and feature dishes seen on Nikita's appearances on MasterChef: The Professionals, including her octopus 'takoyaki' doughnut, as well as on Great British Menu, such as her Malaysian fish head curry."
Nikita Pathakji, the Champion of Champions from Great British Menu, will launch her first solo restaurant, Maai, in Clapham on May 20. The restaurant will focus on seasonal produce and include dishes from her MasterChef: The Professionals win, such as octopus 'takoyaki' doughnut and Malaysian fish head curry. Maai, meaning 'mum', will involve her mother and sister. The menu will feature a tasting option, a set menu, and a weekly Sunday roast, reflecting bold flavors influenced by diverse London cuisines.
