"Bloc Party have announced their seventh album, Anatomy Of A Brief Romance, which will be out September 11 via cOnTAGIOUS LTD / Virgin Music Group. They made it with legendary producer Trevor Horn, whose credits include Seal's first four albums, Frankie Goes to Hollywood's Welcome to the Pleasuredome, ABC's The Lexicon of Love, Yes' "Owner of a Lonely Heart," and Belle & Sebastian's Dear Catastrophe Waitress. They call it "a record unlike anything we've ever done before.""
"The title of the album is very literal. "Every lyric you're hearing on this record was something that actually happened to me," says Kele Okereke. "I had to tell the story, from start to finish." It charts the breakup of his longterm relationship with the father of his children, and the start of a new one. "Having this romance, this new thing emerge, it kept me sane, in a very dark time," he adds."
"The first single is the swooping, soaring "Coming on Strong" and you can watch the video, directed by Charlie Pryor, below. Bloc Party announced their seventh album, Anatomy Of A Brief Romance, releasing September 11 through cOnTAGIOUS LTD / Virgin Music Group. The album was made with producer Trevor Horn, known for work with Seal, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, ABC, Yes, and Belle & Sebastian. The title reflects the songwriting approach: every lyric is based on events that happened to Kele Okereke, told from start to finish. The songs chart the end of a long-term relationship and the beginning of a new one, with the new romance helping him stay sane during a dark period. The lead single is “Coming on Strong,” and the band will co-headline a UK tour with Interpol in November and December.
