Ex-Havering councillor remanded over historical sexual abuse charges
"Tucker represented Rainham and Wennington ward on Havering Council for 20 years for the Independent Residents Group, first being elected in 2002 and standing down in 2022. He faces allegations dating from 1987 and 1994, and was remanded in custody after a first court hearing at Barkingside Magistrates' Court last month."
A 66-year-old former councillor in east London, Jeffrey Tucker, has been remanded in custody after being charged with historical sexual offences against two women who allege abuse as children in the 1980s and 1990s. He faces charges including rape, indecent assault, and attempted indecent assault relating to one alleged victim, and four counts of indecent assault relating to a second girl. The case is set for trial on January 11, 2027. Tucker indicated he intends to plead not guilty, though formal pleas have not yet been entered. The charges date from 1987 and 1994. He was not present at Snaresbrook Crown Court for the custody ruling.
