Gardai investigating murder of man in 2009 begin searching land in south Dublin
"The body of Liam Murray was discovered in his home at Rockbrook Cottages in Rathfarnham on the 20th of March 2009. In a statement today, Gardaí said they are conducting searches of land in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16. Liam was last seen having a drink with friends at the Headline Bar on the corner of the South Circular Road and Clanbrassil Street on Saint Patrick's Day 2009. He left the bar at around 6.30pm and travelled in his jeep, a black and champagne-coloured Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, through Harold's Cross, Terenure, Nutgrove Avenue and home to Rockbrook Cottages, Cruagh Road, Edmonstown, Rathfarnham, arriving there between 7pm and 7.30pm."
"This was the last time Liam was seen alive. When his family could not contact him, they called to the house and found his body on the morning of Friday March 20. He had been shot five times with a handgun. He was described as 5ft 10in in height, stocky build, with short, dark brown, curly hair. "The primary focus of this investigation is the victim, Liam Murray and his family," gardaí said in a statement today."

They added: "Gardaí are continuing to appeal to any person who met, spoke or had any interaction with Liam Murray leading up to the discovery of his body on the 20th of March 2009. Liam Murray’s body was discovered in his home at Rockbrook Cottages in Rathfarnham on March 20, 2009. Gardaí conducted searches of land in Rathfarnham, Dublin 16. Murray was last seen on St Patrick’s Day 2009 having a drink with friends at the Headline Bar near the South Circular Road and Clanbrassil Street. He left the bar at about 6:30pm and drove a black and champagne-coloured Mitsubishi Pajero Sport through Harold’s Cross, Terenure, and Nutgrove Avenue, arriving home between 7:00pm and 7:30pm. His family could not contact him and found his body on the morning of March 20. He had been shot five times with a handgun. Gardaí appealed for anyone who met or interacted with him before his death and asked for information to be reported to Terenure Garda Station or confidential lines.
