Housing minister to meet Oliver Bond residents following outcry over scrapping of regeneration scheme
""I think it's important that he actually steps foot in Oliver Bonds and sees the reality of what it's like for residents to live in," he said. He cautiously welcomed the meeting, but said he hoped the meeting was more than a "photo op"."
A meeting is confirmed for next Wednesday regarding Oliver Bond flats regeneration, with details still to be worked out. The Oliver Bond Regeneration Forum has been involved in developing regeneration plans for a dilapidated complex with extensive damp, mould, and antisocial behaviour issues. Residents, councillors, council officials, local gardaí, and the HSE participate in the forum and have repeatedly requested a meeting with Mr Browne without success. Labour councillor Darragh Moriarty cautiously welcomed the confirmed meeting and urged the minister to step into Oliver Bonds to see residents’ conditions. The regeneration plans were scrapped after the Government said the proposals do not represent value for money, and the earlier timeline included a planning application in October and works starting within two years.
