Blue Jays and Dodgers going the distance in 2025 World Series
"It was one of the ugliest ways to lose a World Series game in recent memory. A complete base running blunder by Addison Barger in the bottom of the ninth gave the Dodgers a 3-1 win to even the World Series at three games a piece. With runners on second and third and one out, Andrés Giménez hit a line drive to left field that Enriqué Hernandez came running in on to make the catch."
"Barger, at second base, represented the tying run while Myles Straw, at third base, came on as a pinch runner for Kirk. After the Barger double, the Dodgers went to the bullpen and brought out Tyler Glasnow who needed just three pitches to get out of the jam and finish the game. He got Ernie Clement to pop out to first base on the first pitch he saw and two pitches later, Giménez lined out for the double play"
Addison Barger hit a ground-rule double in the ninth that put runners at second and third with no outs after Alejandro Kirk was hit by a pitch. Myles Straw pinch ran at third while Barger represented the tying run at second. Andrés Giménez lined a ball to left field that Enriqué Hernandez caught, then doubled Barger off second when Barger was too far off the bag. The Dodgers won 3-1 after Tyler Glasnow entered and retired Ernie Clement before the game-ending double play. The Blue Jays left eight men on base and went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position.
