Dave Roberts Sends Message to Dodgers Bullpen After World Series Game 1 Blowup
""They need to bounce back," Roberts said of Sheehan and Banda. "I wouldn't say concerning. Anthony's been very good for us, and he left a breaking ball up. But, yeah, with the construct of the pen, we're going to need 'em, and so we got a long way to go, a lot of baseball, but they certainly got to make good pitches.""
""They need to bounce back," Roberts said of Sheehan and Banda."
Blake Snell exited Game 1 in the bottom of the sixth with the bases loaded and no outs and the score tied 2-2. Emmet Sheehan relieved Snell and allowed two singles and a walk, giving Toronto a 5-2 lead. Anthony Banda relieved Sheehan but surrendered a pinch-hit grand slam to Addison Barger and later allowed a home run by Alejandro Kirk, extending Toronto's lead to 11-2. The Dodgers lost 11-4. Banda had been scoreless in his first three postseason appearances; Sheehan had allowed runs in each of his four October outings. Yoshinobu Yamamoto is scheduled to start Game 2 at 5:00 p.m. PT.
