Just jumping on the Blue Jays bandwagon? Here's your World Series primer | CBC Sports
"Just last year, the Blue Jays finished last in their division. But they turned things around this season and won the American League East, followed by a post-season where they took out the New York Yankees and the Seattle Mariners. Everyone from the Toronto faithful who flooded the streets to celebrate Monday's win to the fans watching across the country are excited to see the Jays play in a World Series for the first time in more than 30 years."
"How did Toronto get here? The Blue Jays won 94 games during the regular season this year, en route to winning the American League East division title. That record meant the 2025 Jays clinched a playoff spot and bypassed the wildcard round that has stymied past squads. They then took down the powerful New York Yankees in the American League Division Series (ALDS)."
Many current Blue Jays weren't born when Toronto last won the World Series; the young roster now prepares for Game 1 against the Los Angeles Dodgers at Rogers Centre. Toronto won 94 regular-season games to take the AL East, skipped the wildcard, then defeated the New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners in the postseason to win the American League pennant. Fans flooded Toronto streets in celebration, marking the franchise's first World Series appearance in more than 30 years. The team shifted from last-place in its division a year ago to pennant winners in 2025.
