Savannah Guthrie will present a new TV game show based on Wordle, created in 2021 and acquired by The New York Times a year later. The project had been in development for some time but was delayed after Guthrie took a leave of absence following the disappearance of her mother, Nancy Guthrie, from an Arizona home on 1 February. Nancy Guthrie has not been seen since, and authorities believe she was likely kidnapped. Guthrie said NBC, Jimmy Fallon, and production partners paused plans to accommodate her family situation. Jimmy Fallon will produce the show through Electric Hot Dog, with Universal Television Alternative Studio and The New York Times as co-producers. Half-hour episodes will be filmed in Manchester starting in June and air in US prime time in 2027.
