Alcaraz splits with coach of his 6 Slam victories
"After more than seven years together, Juanki and I have decided to bring our chapter together as coach and player to an end,"
"Thank you for turning childhood dreams into reality. We started this journey when I was barely a kid, and throughout all this time you've accompanied me on an incredible journey, on and off the court. And I've enjoyed every step of it so much with you."
"Today is a difficult day. One of those when it's hard to find the right words. Saying goodbye is never easy, especially when there are so many shared experiences behind it."
Carlos Alcaraz and Juan Carlos Ferrero have ended a seven-year coach-player partnership. The partnership yielded six Grand Slam titles for Alcaraz—two French Opens, two Wimbledons and two US Opens—and Alcaraz won eight titles this season. Alcaraz thanked Ferrero for turning childhood dreams into reality and recalled their journey from his early years. Ferrero described the day as difficult, expressed regret that he could not continue and said he believes good memories and good people will find a way to cross paths again. Ferrero is a former world No. 1 and French Open champion and a multiple ATP Coach of the Year recipient.
