"Mary had a heart of gold, she cared for everyone."
"I know for many years after Mary gave up her whole life, she cared for my nanny and other people in the community."
"She was happy with the small things in life, a cup of tea and a chat."
"a gentle soul whose kindness and compassion touched every resident"
Mary Holt, 60, and her four‑year‑old great‑nephew Tadgh Farrell were found dead in the front room of a County Offaly house after a fire was deliberately started shortly before 7.45pm on 6 December. The funeral cortege stopped at Ofalia House care home, where Holt worked from age 15, and staff in scrubs formed a guard of honour. Family members described Holt as caring, devoted to her work and to looking after relatives in the community. A letter from the care home described her as a gentle soul whose kindness touched residents. Prayers were offered for other recent victims at the service.
