D66, led by 38-year-old Rob Jetten, secured a narrow plurality with about 18% of the vote and a slim lead of roughly 15,000 votes in the 150-seat Lower House. Jetten is on course to become the Netherlands' youngest-ever prime minister and will lead coalition negotiations that are likely to require at least three partners and take months. D66 nearly tripled its seats, driven by energetic campaigning, increased advertising and policies focused on climate, affordable housing and restoring trust in institutions. Geert Wilders' PVV lost momentum from its 2023 surge and alleged voting irregularities without evidence.
